Wedding and portrait photographer, Edinburgh
Honest, unhurried photographs of weddings, elopements and people, made in natural light across Scotland.
From city registry offices to windswept glens, a small selection of days I was lucky to be part of.
I photograph people the way they are when nobody is asking them to pose.
I grew up between Fife and the west coast, and I still think Scottish light is the best in the world: soft, changeable, never boring.
Based in Edinburgh, I travel anywhere in Scotland, from island chapels to bothies at the end of a long track.
Tell me about your dayA calm, simple process so you can enjoy the day and forget the camera is there.
Send me your date and venue. I reply within two working days with availability.
We meet over coffee or a video call to talk plans, people and what matters most.
I work quietly in the background, with gentle direction only when it helps.
A carefully edited online gallery arrives within six weeks, ready to share and print.

For two people, or a handful of guests, somewhere wild and meaningful.
From the quiet of getting ready to the first dances, the whole story told.
An hour outdoors or at home, for individuals, couples and families.
Travel within Scotland is included for weddings and elopements. Portrait sessions outside Edinburgh may carry a small travel fee.
"We barely noticed Mara all day, then the gallery arrived and we both cried. It felt exactly like our wedding felt."
"She found us the perfect spot above Glen Etive and kept us laughing through the rain."
"Calm, kind and so organised. Our families still talk about how easy she made it."
